Abstract
This research presents the output from a survey focused on risk perception and household emergency preparedness in Ireland. It focuses on:
The public’s perception of the risk posed by various weather-related events;
The level of experience of, and worry about, these risks within Ireland;
The extent to which respondents perceived themselves to be prepared for emergencies, and the extent to which they were actually prepared (e.g. had access to recommended equipment and had plans in place should an emergency occur);
In case of an emergency, the extent to which the public would follow the advice of various agents based on trust;
Public awareness of the national “Be Winter Ready” Campaign, and the impact it had on individuals making plans and taking actions to protect themselves or their households.
