Abstract
This chapter will present a model of learning that focuses on the interactions and
transactions between children and adults and their learning environments. The chapter will
follow up on the ideas about effective teaching and learning and developmentally informed
practice in the early years introduced in Chapter 3. As with the philosophical ideas
presented in Chapter 3, readers will be given parameters and guidance for how they can sift
various forms of evidence and reach informed decisions.
