Ryan, Carmel (1997) Evaluating the effectiveness of electronic special interest groups. Master of Science thesis, Dublin City University.

Abstract
The Centre for Teaching Computing aims to facilitate co-operation between third level colleges in Ireland and Europe. Such co-operation will result in the development, use and publication of best practices and material for teaching computing. A number of electronic d iscussion groups were set up b y the CTC to assist in providing a forum for exchanging ideas and materials and promoting co operation between those involved in the field of computing at third level. The eSIGs need to have members communicating on a regular basis to be successful. This dissertation explains the technology of the eSIGs and details the support measures that have been put in place to ensure that they deliver on their potential.
